What is the Map?

The MaP (Maximum Performance Testing Program) is a voluntary program to assess the maximum performance level of toilets. It indicates the quantity of solid waste in grams that is eliminated in a single flush.

Is an unlined tank as efficient against condensation than an insulated (lined) tank?

No, since insulated tanks have an expanded polystyrene lining that kelps prevent the condensation from ambient air, which is warmer than the water in the tank. Unlined tanks do not have that insulation but have an extra space that keeps a small amount of water at room temperature. This amount of stored water mixes with cold water to attenuate the temperature difference. Although, if the ambient temperature is too high and the bathroom is very humid, there still will be some condensation.

Does the bowl trap diameter make a difference on the MaP test result?

The MaP test is completed with different factors added together. Some toilets having a smaller trap diameter still have a higher gram quantity in their MaP test. We can therefore conclude that the diameter does not make a significant difference.

Can a one-piece toilet be installed in a basement?

Yes, but then the toilet MaP result should be considered. It is important to understand that evacuation is harder in a basement because there is no gravity effect to help the pressure.

Are toilets using more than 6 litres of water per flush still sold?

The most recent building codes require the installation of toilets of a maximum of 6 litres per flush. Therefore, we no longer make toilets using more than 6 litres per flush.

Are toilet dimensions standard?

There are common features for a lot of models, but shapes vary widely.

What is the difference between a thermostatic cartridge and a balanced pressure cartridge?

The balanced pressure cartridge controls the water flow on both sides (hot and cold). Its equalizer adjusts the water volume when there is a flow variation, which allows to maintain a constant temperature (as long as the temperatures do not vary in one of the water sources). For instance, if there is a variation of the cold water flow (caused by the use of another faucet, the toilet, etc.), the equalizer will reduce the hot water quantity and increase the cold water quantity. This cartridge is safe and easy to use but provides a limited water flow (20 litres per 60 psi).

The thermostatic cartridge measures and maintains the water temperature on the way out through a copper rod containing paraffin, that reacts to temperature variations. The thermostatic cartridge does not require temperature adjustments for each use and allows, if needed, a high water flow (57 litres per 60 psi). It is easy to use, affordable and safe. However, this cartridge reacts very slowly to flow variations, which means that when another water system (faucet, toilet, etc.) is in use in the house, the cartridge efficiency may be reduced. If there is a variation of more than 30% of the hot or cold water flow, there could be a temperature variation. A thermostatic mixing valve can be integrated into new constructions without any problem. Therefore, it is not recommended for renovations or water wells as there is a risk of improper water supply.

Is the drainer included with the bathtub?

It depends on the product. Please refer to the datasheet.

Can a roman tub faucet be installed on a freestanding bathtub?

We do not recommend that type of installation as freestanding bathtubs have no reinforcing plates or predrilled holes. Wrong drilling of the acrylic could damage the tub and the faucet’s weight could cause cracking of the acrylic.
